  2. This is the message that the world needs to hear. That being said though, Muslims do behead and torture and imprison even the most open minded of “infidels” for far lesser reasons that burning the Koran. And in a way they might admire the tactics of Fred Phelps.

  3. Here here – he is a total idiot

  4. Nor does he speak for Plymouth Brethren, or Plymouth brethren with a small “b”, or brethren with a small “b”, or Open Brethren, or Closed Brethren, or Tight Brethren or Loose Brethren, or Progressive Brethren or King James Only Brethren, or Exclusive Brethren or Grant Brethren, or Taylor Brethren or Raven Brethren.

Oh, forget it! The Brethren have fought amongst themselves so much that J. N. Darby likely burned George Muller’s books.

Sorry, just had to rant about the group that’s still closest to my heart.

    • Maybe this wasn’t the best place to mention that we’re not always the most unified bunch; but I guess Terry Jones proves that single-handedly. (Were you trying to suggest that the Brethren have fought more than the Baptists?)

Creating this list was a rather interesting process, as I’m sure you can imagine. I tried to reflect my mostly U.S. readership but include a few Canadian groups as well, but it was hard to know where to draw the line. And why are the Mormons listed, but not the Jehovah’s Witnesses? Not sure. I also wanted to include all of the churches affiliated with Andy Stanley’s North Point ministry, but wasn’t sure what to call them. They’re a rapidly-rising group, though not a denomination as such.

This is the kind of blog post that may sit for weeks and then suddenly get picked up by a search engine; and hopefully will bear fruit at that time. Again, to any Muslims who stumble on this page, these fringe characters (Jones or Phelps) don’t speak for 99.9999999% of us.
