The Dones Speak Out

The-Dones

Recently, the SBC took a sucker punch to the gut. They learned that they lost 200,000 members in 2014. This is in spite of church plants coming out the wazoo. Are they contributing the the large numbers of *Dones?* (More church plants and fewer attendees should raise a few eyebrows.)

That’s just part of what you’ll read in a post at The Wartburg Watch titled The Dones: Faithful Church Refugees and the DeChurched Project.

But call it comment envy on my part, but another highlight — and you need to set aside some time for this — are the comments by over 750 readers.

Wait, let me say this again: You really need to read some of these comments. Then you’ll know why The Dones are done. (For those of you willing to scroll through them all, go down to the bottom, click on Older Posts, and start with the ‘First’ post on Mon Jun 22, 2015 at 06:11 PM.)

If your time is precious, Dee has crafted an executive summary of sorts in a post a few days later titled The Dones: Continuing The Conversation. That one should have an additional 75 comments by the time you read this.

This is important.

Pastors need to read this.

Elders, deacons, board members need to read this.

I’ll stop here so you can click through.
