Holy, Holy, Holy: What is Holiness?

Most people know The Bible Project for their book-by-book summaries of scripture. But today I discovered this topical video posted about a year-and-a-half ago. More information about their work at JoinTheBibleProject.com.

See what you think about this explanation of holiness.

  4. I get what they are saying in terms of describing the reason we are to pursue holiness, but, I do not see a principle in scripture that says “don’t concern yourself with learning right from wrong or from doing what is holy, because God is holy and taking care of that for you”. I do see a reiteration from the Old Testamemt of being holy because God is holy. I see working out my salvation with fear and trembling. I see that I was made for good works and that God’s grace enables me to do those good works which He setup for me to do. God’s holiness is not something to take lightly. We do not even realize the depth of our sin day in and day out. As Paul said, oh wretched man that I am, who will deliver me from this body of death? And that person is God through Jesus Christ.
