Wednesday Link List

So, is Pope Francis a revivalist?

Saved - Pope Francis

Now, on to the links…

Some very, very high profile Christian sites and at least one radio show get their news stories here. We know who you are…

The Wednesday List Lynx might be getting a new home as early as next week.

The Wednesday List Lynx might be getting a new home as early as next week.

Stop the presses! Is this the last link list?

We’re cooking up a partnership that could mean more people than ever would get to share in what we’ve been doing here for five years. Just think of the larger number of people who would get saved just clicking on these same stories. They might not even have to click; conviction might come just by reading the teasers.

Really, why are we considering this? It’s about power and the ability to take bribes to promote various blogs and websites.

So stay tuned. Same bat time. Same bat channel. But maybe not actually same bat channel.

  1. The articulate lady debunking the rapture doctrine… how can anyone disagree with her? It’s a totally grounded view of Scripture … plain and simple. ‘End of days madness’ has done more to freak out people than build them up. So would someone PLEASE haul Jack Van Impe’s butt off of T.V. already?!

  2. I can’t view videos with my limited internet connection, but I persevered with this one and about 15 minutes or more later wondered why I had. Yes, she is articulate and sounds convincing, but I believe she is doing what she accuses others of doing – using the Scriptures and twisting them to suit herself.

There is no doubt the teaching of the rapture has been mis-represented in many ways by many people – but that is no reason to debunk it. I believe it is a clear teaching of Scripture, and far from causing fear, it encourages and comforts.

    • Often anything that challenges a status quo doctrine is relegated to the fringes, but there is a major ‘rethink’ on the doctrine of the rapture taking place in a variety of Christian circles.

I was first challenged on this about seven years ago by a man in my church who had just finished reading End Time Delusions by Steve Wohlberg (Destiny Image).

This is tied in with the imagery of what it means to be “caught up to meet him” in the context of Jewish wedding imagery. In the parable of the foolish virgins, the people are going out to meet the bridegroom on the way, but then, they do not continue in that direction, but do a 180-degree turn and proceed in the direction the bridgegroom is heading.

This is part-and-parcel of the definition of “new earth” in terms of Jesus establishing a kingdom here on this planet, as opposed to an “out there” kind of heaven; so it’s related to the comment you left on our other blog.

But don’t worry; other than these two subjects, I assure you I don’t have any other doctrinal surprises up my sleeve! I know that certain doctrines are well subscribed-to, and I’m not trying to undermine anything, just get people thinking. (For example, I do believe in hell!) So: Please keep reading.
