Robert A. Schuller Unveils Television Plans

It’s not just about a weekly church service, in fact it’s not about preaching at all.   It involves the purchase of an entire network.   Here’s the story from AP’s Gillian Flaccus:

robert a schullerThe son of famed “The Hour of Power” televangelist Robert H. Schuller Sr. said Tuesday he will launch his own show on AmericanLife TV after acquiring the network in a partnership with ComStar Media Fund LP.

The announcement by Robert A. Schuller Jr. ended months of speculation about his next move after a highly public split with his charismatic father and founder of the popular weekly televangelist program.

The younger Schuller said in an interview with The Associated Press that his new series will debut on AmericanLife in September and air once a week on TV and the Internet. He said he will appear on the show, along with other actors or characters. He declined to provide more specifics.

“It’s going to be like nothing you’ve ever seen before,” he said. “It will be very contemporary and modern and it’s not going to be a preaching show. It will be a show that shares the message without preaching the message.”

Schuller’s father said in a statement released through a spokesman that he wished his son well despite their recent dustup.

But that’s just the first few lines of a longer story, you can continue reading here.

  6. Okay, people, I’ll bite. This is Paul, I’m the author of the Thinking Out Loud blog you are reading. And yet, here you are, four of you now, addressing your remarks as though they are going to read by RAS himself.

And maybe he will drop by. I’m just a little confused as to your expectations vis-a-vis blogging and commenting on blog posts.

Did someone send you here to leave these comments?

    • Am glad to hear that it will be on the internet. There are a lot of us in rural areas that can’t get cable and also don’t care to go to a dish type service. Hope we will be able to get it. Sure missed you on HOP and now it isn’t broadcast in our area anyway. Course now we don’t really care since you aren’t there anymore.

  9. Hi everybody.

Once again, this is Paul Wilkinson, and I am the author of this blog.

The comments in this section continue to baffle me. Why are you addressing your remarks TO R.A.S.? What makes you think he is going to read this? I mean, maybe he will; but this has got to be the weirdest collection of comments. Who sent y’all here?

You people DO know how blogging works, right?

    • Paul,

We are posting here because the sight links to this sight from American Life TV. My husband and I watched the ministry and anointing of Robert Schuller Jr., and know he is anointed of God and long to hear him teach preach or expound on the scriptures. He did not shy away from bapitism, but when someone asked he followed through. I believe it was a country western singer. And he was baptized that very day. Just like the household of Cornelious, they went out that very hour of the night to be baptized.

Isn’t it remarkable that the acceptance of the word as written offends so many. The Lord takes the simple things of this world to confound the wise.

My husband and I are in our sixites and seventies and loooking for faithfulness to the word. And no we don’t know anything about blogging.

And no one has sent us here to make these comments, goodness young man, we think for ourselves, led by the Holy Spirit.

I’ll forgive you for that slight.

  14. April 19, 2010
I had been wondering for some
time what had happened to Robert, Jr., and if he had started his own program. I would like to hear his
preaching since I enjoyed his messages and found his preaching to be a blessing, along with helpful in living out the christian faith. My journey of faith is one that looked forwad to hearing him when he was at HOP. He did an oustanding job. I am so amazed that his father and Robert, Jr. have made use of Matthew 18 and moved on in their ministry. I would like to see them make use of reconcilitation and work together since this makes it look like two good people allowing something to keep them separated and apart. I want to see them both working together once again. DJM

  15. I also love to watch Robert A. Schuller and enjoyed his sermons tremondously. I have nothing against Sheila taking over the ministry at Crystal Cathedral, but I want to see more of Robert A and his wife Donna with their children. I enjoyed watching Robert Schuller the 3rd, preaching a couple of times . Please let me know how I can watch Robert’s new program, either tv or online, so I can keep the faith going.

  18. i attended the Crystel cathedral for 17 years, I found the teaching very exceptional back then, 1978-1995.
Wehen Robert A. came on board his message exceeded Robert Sr’s.
    Then Robert A. disappeard.
Good to find him again, I will watch his show when I find the TV station.
