If you’re in a situation where the potential exists for some kind of emergency phone call, I don’t care how soothing and relaxing your ringtone is, it’s still your phone ringing and you still tense up. If anything, it means your anxiety and stress levels increase anytime in the future you hear those same tones or melody, somewhat destroying the calming effect of your choice of theme over the long haul. A phone call is still a phone call.

I so rarely get a phone call these days. Emails and texts are the mode of information 90% of the time now . So when my actual house phone rings I pick up wth dread. My mother is 86 and far away from me. It will be a sad day when the voice on the other end tells me that it is too late to plan yet another flight home. The rarity of the call is what makes for the anxiety for me.
